It matters: The company our company keeps.

I’m very proud that our company supports ambitious climate policy and has made significant investments in sustainability. That’s why I’m asking Salesforce to leave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and lead on climate policy.

Salesforce says that the workforce is the center of our sustainability strategy, but gives employees no meaningful say in its trade association memberships.
Our membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce undermines our company’s pro-climate reputation, given its opposition to key policies like the Inflation Reduction Act and the EPA’s proposed limits on methane and power plant emissions. The Chamber also lobbied for weaker SEC climate disclosure rules and sued the state of California over its landmark climate disclosure rule, which Salesforce supported. If we remain, and don’t distance our company from these actions, Salesforce will be complicit in this obstruction.
There is a better, more positive path for our pro-climate company.
We should publicly distance Salesforce from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s positions and statements that do not align with strong climate action and leadership. We should also consistently and forcefully lobby for bold and just climate policies at the federal, state and local levels, align our political contributions with climate leadership and action, and lead pro-climate coalitions in advocating strongly for pro-climate policies.
